木漏れ日 | The sunlight shining through the trees | Komorebi

Komorebi is a japanese word composed of 3 key elements that reveal its definition : 木 (ko), 漏れ (more), and 日 (bi). The first is the kanji for “tree,” 漏れ is the stem of the verb moreru, which means to leak out or come through, and 日 is the kanji for day or sunlight. The combinaison leads to the following translation of komorebi : “to the sunlight shining through the trees.”

Komorebi is one of the many examples of the importance that certain cultures have given to certain phenomena by attributing their own words to them. Here, it is this inner light that crosses the cracks: for it is at the frontiers of art that we find some of the most beautiful representations of inner worlds.
